Firm-wide Project Performance Analysis
Our client wanted to know what type of customers and projects were the most profitable and what types of work they should pursue in the future. We analyzed the firm's project performance from the last five years. We determined various performance metrics (including average billing rate, average wage, contribution margin per hour, etc.) for all projects. We then analyzed the data by customer, industry, contract type (lump sum, not-to-exceed, unit price, etc.), regional office, and project manager to look for patterns regarding profitability. We followed up on outliers to try to understand the complete picture of the past performance. Finally, we explored the client's revenue concentration from each category to identify diversification & expansion opportunities. After we completed our analysis we compiled our key findings into a report which gave recommendations on customer types, industries, and ideal contract structures to pursue based on analysis and industry trends.
